# Why does the compression take too much time?

Normally, it takes **30 seconds to compress an image**. Although it may also depend on the image weight. If the image is too big in the size, it may take a bit more time.

Even if you have a few thousands of images to process, don’t worry! Once you executed an action on the app, **the app will run on the background** even if you close the app or close the Shopify admin panel.
